As grand partner of the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories in Hyères, CHANEL celebrates in 2024 its ten-year support to this key encounter with emerging designers.
For the 39th edition of the festival, the Grand Prix of the Jury Première Vision distinguished Dole Elron among the ten finalists of the Fashion competition. The Grand Prix of the Accessories Jury rewarded Chiyang Duan.
Chaired by Nicolas Di Felice, the Fashion jury awarded the le19M Métiers d’art Prize to Romain Bichot in collaboration with Lemarié. The prize highlights the best co-creation between the ten candidates in competition and ten Maisons d’art settled at le19M since 2021. A place of creation and transmission, le19M was created to foster vocations and transmit exceptional artisanal savoir-faire. Bringing under one roof 700 artisans and experts in eleven Maisons d’art, it is also home to a multidisciplinary and open to all space, la Galerie du 19M.
By awarding the three laureates a grant for their next creative project, CHANEL and le19M stand for the perennial influence of the Métiers d’art’s exceptional techniques, enhanced by the inventiveness of promising talents.
The 7L Photography Grand Jury Prize, was awarded to Arhant Shrestha. He will be accompanied by the 7L in both the edition of a book and its launching on the occasion of the Paris Photo exhibition.
Meanwhile, laureates of the 2023 edition Igor Dieryck and Gabrielle Huguenot presented the result of their collaboration with the CHANEL Métiers d'art during an exhibition held at the Villa Noailles.
And to mark its centenary, tweed embroiderer and designer Maison d'art Lesage has collaborated with artist Aristide (Aristide Barraud) to create Murmuration. Depicting a swarm of starlings, this participatory embroidery, crafted by thousands of hands, unfurls along migratory stages between Venice, Dakar, Marseille and Paris. On the occasion of the Festival, the artwork makes a stop in Hyères, where Lesage invites the public to embroider the birds of this murmuration, before they fly off to le19M in Paris for the exhibition “Lesage, 100 years of fashion and decoration”, where it will be on show until 5 January 2025.
